The Flappers

GET GEMS

Pick your Flapper from a lineup of bird people, including ducks, jays, and robins. Flap your wings furiously to  sail over deadly pits, avoid enemies, and collect every last gem. 

Each stage has a set number of gems to collect to complete it. 

There are eight stages in total, with increasing platforming challenges and hazards.

INSTRUCTIONS & PHYSICS

Controls are fully customizable from the Settings menu. Gamepads are supported and encouraged. Default keyboard bindings are:

• Z: Run (also cancel in menus)
• X: Jump, flap wings in midair (also confirm/select in menus)

Hold the jump button longer to jump higher. You will be able to jump higher when jumping while running at high speed. The faster you are running when you initiate a jump, the faster you'll be able to move in mid-air, even in the opposite direction. 

Flap rapidly to move through the air without falling. The Flappers cannot fly, but they can slowly fall for a long time with dedicated, rapid flapping. 

There are many jumps that must be made at high speds and with lots of flapping.

You begin the game with four Flappers, but there are a total of eight—they'll join in when you clear a certain number of levels or when you make it through a stage under a specific amount of time.

JAM NOTES

This game was originally created for the six-hour Craft Lake City Makers Mart game jam in Millcreek, Utah, on May 8, 2026. The original jam version had some graphical differences, only one player character, and the first three stages present in this version.
